
Dr Abdessamad El Ouahabi is Full Professor of Neurosurgery and Former Chairman of Neurosurgery Department and Director of Residency Training Program in Hôpital des Spécialités Ibn Sina University Medical Center of Rabat Mohammed V University, Morocco.
He is currently President of the Continental Association of African Neurosurgical Societies (CAANS) and Co-Chair of WFNS Education and Training Committee.
Dr Abdessamad El Ouahabi was born in 1959 in Tangier Morocco. He was graduated from Rabat Medical school in 1984. He received his basic neurosurgery training in the department of Neurosurgery Ibn Sina University Medical Center of Rabat affiliated to Mohammed V University.
In 1987, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and was a Guest Physician in the Neurosurgery Department of Klinikum Steglis Berlin in 1989. Between 1990-1992, he was a Fulbright scholar in Brigham and Women hospital and children hospital, Harvard Medical school in Boston. and an invited Neurosurgeon and Speaker in the Neurosurgery Department of the Massachusetts General Hospital Boston, then in Harvard Club and in Neurosurgery Department of Children Hospital in Los Angeles in 1991.
Since 1996, he was appointed Full Professor at Mohammed V university, Rabat Medical School.and served as Chairman of Neurosurgical Department of Hopital des Spécialites and Director of Residency Training Program an Research in Neurosurgery WFNS Rabat training center affiliated to Rabat Medical School ,Mohammed V University in Rabat .from 2013 to 2024
Dr El Ouahabi is past President of the Moroccan society of Neurosurgery, founder and active member of numerous Regional Continental and International Scientific societies (17 associations) such as CNS, CAANS, PanaArab Neurosurgical Society, SNCLF and Others. He served as WFNS congress officer and Secretary of the 13th Word Congress of Neurological Surgery(2001-2005) .
He was elected the WFNS 2nd vice president CAANS for the term (2013-2017)
He has participated in the education and training of more than 110 Neurosurgeons from Morocco and from Sub-Saharan Africa
He has contributed immensely to education and training mainly at the WFNS Rabat Reference Center for Young African Neurosurgeons in numerous neurosurgical sub-specialties :vascular, pituitary adenomas, pediatric neurosurgery, pain and skull base tumors. He established the First African NeuroEndoscopy University Diploma in 2023 . Dr El Ouahabi has authored of more than 126 scientific papers and has presented more than 180 papers or conferences in international and national meetings.
